Honda HR-V: Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Removal and Installation

Removal

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations - Refer to: SRS Component Location Index (KA/KC), or SRS Component Location Index (KA/KC) and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

  • Removal of the front passenger's weight sensors must be done according to Precautions and Procedures.
  • The front passenger's weight sensor is part of the seat rail and must be replaced as an assembly.

1. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Disconnect

NOTE: Wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Front Seat Frame (Passenger's side) - Remove

3. Front Passenger's Seat Rail/Front Passenger's Weight Sensors - Remove

  1. Remove the seat cushion frame (A).

  1. Remove the nuts (A), then remove the front passenger's seat rail/front passenger's weight sensors as an assembly (B).

Installation

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations - Refer to: SRS Component Location Index (KA/KC), or SRS Component Location Index (KA/KC) and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

  • Be sure to install the harness wires so they are not pinched or interfering with other parts.
  • The front passenger's weight sensor is part of the seat rail and must be replaced as an assembly.

1. Front Passenger's Seat Rail/Front Passenger's Weight Sensors - Install

Supplemental Restraint System - Service Information

  1. Install the front passenger's seat rail/front passenger's weight sensors as an assembly (A) to the seat frame as shown, and loosely tighten the new nuts (B).

    NOTE: The bushings can be identified by their color. Make sure to install the bushings as shown.

  1. Tighten the nuts (A) to the specified torque.

    NOTE: Tighten the nuts in the numbered sequence shown.

  1. Install the seat cushion frame (A).

2. Front Seat Frame (Passenger's side) - Install

3. 12 Volt Battery Terminal - Connect

4. Seat Operation - Confirm

  1. Move the front seat and the seat-back through their full ranges of movement, making sure the harness are not pinched or interfering with other parts.

5. Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Unit - Initialize

6. Front Passenger's Weight Sensor Unit - Operation Check

7. SRS Operation - Confirm

  1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
