NOTE: If the A/C compressor relief valve released refrigerant to the
atmosphere, determine and correct the
cause of the excessive system pressure, then replace the relief valve.
1. A/C Refrigerant - Recover
2. Vehicle - Lift
3. Engine Undercover - Remove
4. A/C Compressor Relief Valve - Remove

NOTE: Plug the opening to keep moisture and foreign material from entering
the system, and the A/C
compressor oil from running out.
5. All Removed Parts - Install
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- If the A/C compressor relief valve released refrigerant to the
atmosphere, determine and correct
the cause of the excessive system pressure, then replace the relief
valve.
- Clean the mating surfaces.
- New O-ring should be used at each fitting. Prior to installation,
apply a thin coat of the same
refrigerant oil used in the A/C compressor. Be sure to use the correct
O-ring for HFC-134a
(R-134a) to avoid leakage.
- Charge the system with the specified amount of R-134a refrigerant.

It is normal for the A/C compressor to turn off under certain
conditions, such as low idle, high engine
coolant temperature, or hard acceleration.
Do not use this troubleshooting procedure if the fans are also
inoperative with the A/C on. Refer to the
symptom troubleshooting index - R
