Replacement
NOTE:
- The carrier bearing and the carrier bearing outer race should be
replaced as a set.
- Adjust the carrier bearing preload after replacing the carrier bearing
and the carrier bearing outer race.
- Apply a light coat of clean transmission fluid on all parts before
installation.
Transmission Housing Side
1. Differential Oil Seal - Remove
2. Differential Carrier Bearing Outer Race - Remove

- Remove the carrier bearing outer race (A) and the spacer (B) by heating
the
transmission housing to about 212 ºF (100 ºC) using a heat gun (C).
NOTE: Do not heat the transmission housing more than 212 ºF (100 ºC).
3. Differential Carrier Bearing Outer Race - Install

- Install the carrier bearing outer race (A) and the spacer
(B).

- Drive the carrier bearing outer race (A) until it bottoms using the 15 x
135L
driver handle and the 62 x 64 mm bearing driver attachment.
4. Differential Oil Seal - Install
Torque Converter Housing Side
5. Differential Oil Seal - Remove
6. Differential Carrier Bearing Outer Race - Remove

- Remove the carrier bearing outer race (A), the 68 mm thrust shim (B),
and the oil
guide plate (C) by heating the torque converter housing to about 212 ºF
(100 ºC)
using a heat gun (D).
NOTE: Do not heat the torque converter housing more than 212 ºF (100
ºC).
7. Differential Carrier Bearing Outer Race - Install

- Install the carrier bearing outer race (A), the 68 mm thrust shim (B),
and the oil guide plate (C).

- Drive the carrier bearing outer race (A) until it bottoms using the 15 x
135L
driver handle and the 62 x 68 mm bearing driver attachment.
8. Differential Oil Seal - Install
