Honda HR-V: DTC B0020-1A
Special Tools Required
- SRS Inflator Simulator 07SAZ-TB4011A
- SRS Simulator Lead L 070AZ-SNAA300
- SRS Short Canceller 070AZ-SAA0100
NOTE:
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was
in a collision. If so, verify
that all the required components were replaced with new components of the
correct part number,
and that they were properly installed.
- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and
Procedures, General
Troubleshooting Information, and 12 Volt Battery Terminal Disconnection and
Reconnection.
- Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with
the HDS. If the software version
is not the latest, update the SRS unit software, and retest.
DTC (SRS)
1. Problem verification:
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
Clear DTCs
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B0020-1A indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting
Intermittent Failures. If
another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.
2. Driver's side airbag inflator check:
- Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at
least 3 minutes.
- Disconnect the driver's side airbag inflator 2P connector (A) on the
floor wire harness.
- Connect the terminals of SRS simulator lead L to the SRS inflator
simulator (2 Ω connectors), then
connect SRS simulator lead L to the driver's side airbag inflator 2P
connector on the floor wire harness.
- Reconnect the negative cable to the 12 volt battery.
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
Clear DTCs
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B0020-1A indicated?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Short to another wire in the driver's side airbag inflator; replace the
driver's side airbag, then clear the
DTC.
3. Shorted wire check (LSA+ line to LSA- line):
- Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
- Disconnect the negative cable from the 12 volt battery, then wait at
least 3 minutes.
- Disconnect the following connector.
SRS unit connector B (39P)
- Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator from SRS simulator lead L. Do not
disconnect SRS simulator
lead L from the driver's side airbag inflator 2P connector on the floor wire
harness.
- Connect the SRS short canceller to SRS unit connector B (39P) terminals
No. 5 and No. 6.
- Measure the resistance of the test point.
Is there an open circuit?
YES
The LSA+ and LSA- wires are OK. Faulty SRS unit or poor connection at SRS
unit connector B (39P)
and the SRS unit. Check the connection; if the connection is OK, replace the SRS
unit. If the DTC does
not clear, replace the floor wire harness.
NO
Short to another wire in the floor wire harness; replace the floor wire
harness, then clear the DTC.

Remove the headlight (A) with the corner upper beam (B) as
an assembly.
Remove the corner upper beam (A).
