Driver Handle, 40 mm I.D.

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) - Service Information

Replacement

NOTE:

  • The tapered roller bearing and the tapered roller bearing outer race should be replaced as a set.
  • Adjust the tapered roller bearing preload after replacing the tapered roller bearing and the tapered roller bearing outer race.
  • Apply a light coat of clean transmission fluid on all parts before installation.

Transmission Housing Side

1. Final Drive Shaft Tapered Roller Bearing Outer Race - Remove

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) - Service Information

  1. Remove the tapered roller bearing outer race (A) and the oil guide plate (B) by heating the transmission housing to about 212 ºF (100 ºC) using a heat gun (C).

    NOTE: Do not heat the transmission housing more than 212 ºF (100 ºC).

2. Final Drive Shaft Tapered Roller Bearing Outer Race - Install

  1. Install the tapered roller bearing outer race (A) and the oil guide plate (B).

  1. Drive the tapered roller bearing outer race (A) until it bottoms using the 40 mm I.D. driver handle.

Torque Converter Housing Side

3. Final Drive Shaft Tapered Roller Bearing Outer Race - Remove

  1. Remove the bearing outer race (A) and the 51 mm thrust shim (B) by heating the torque converter housing to about 212 ºF (100 ºC) using a heat gun (C).

    NOTE: Do not heat the torque converter housing more than 212 ºF (100 ºC).

4. Final Drive Shaft Tapered Roller Bearing Outer Race - Install

  1. Install the bearing outer race (A) and the 51 mm thrust shim (B).

  1. Drive the bearing outer race (A) until it bottoms using the 40 mm I.D. driver handle.

INCLINATION SENSOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (CVT)

Removal and Installation

NOTE: The inclination sensor is contained in the VSA modulator-control unit.

  1. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
