Honda HR-V: Inspection and Replacement
MTF INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT (M/T)
Inspection
1. Vehicle - Lift
2. Engine Undercover - Remove
3. MTF - Check

- Remove the oil check bolt (A) and the 6 mm sealing washer (B)
- Check the condition of the MTF and make sure it is at the proper level
(C).
NOTE: If the fluid is dirty, replace the MTF.
- Install the oil check bolt with a new 6 mm sealing washer.
4. Engine Undercover - Install

2. MTF - Drain

- Remove the oil check bolt (A) and the 6 mm sealing washer (B)
- Remove the drain plug (C) and the 20 mm sealing washer (D), and drain
the MTF
- Install the drain plug with a new 20 mm sealing washer.

4. MTF - Refill

- Remove the filler plug (A)
- Refill the MTF from the filler plug hole on the transmission, until the
MTF
overflows from the oil check bolt hole (B). Always use Genuine Honda Manual
Transmission Fluid (MTF).

Fluid Capacity:
1.9 L (2.0 US qt, 1.7 lmp qt) at fluid change
2.0 L (2.1 US qt, 1.8 lmp qt) at overhaul
- After the fluid stops overflowing, install the oil check bolt (C) with a
new 6 mm sealing washer (D).
5. Filler Plug - Install

- Clean any dirt and oil from the sealing surface of the filler plug (A)
and the
transmission housing
- Apply liquid gasket (P/N 08C70- K0334M) to the threads of the filler
plug. Install
the filler plug within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket.
NOTE: If too much time has passed after applying the liquid gasket, remove
the old
liquid gasket and residue, then reapply new liquid gasket.
6. Air Cleaner - Install

Do not reuse the drained fluid. Always use genuine Honda DOT 3 or DOT 4

4. Brake Hose - Remove (Right Side)
5. Muffler - Remove
6. Propeller Shaft - Remove
7. Breather Hose - Disconnect
8. Rear Differential - Remove
