Honda HR-V: Clutch Master Cylinder Overhaul (M/T)

Exploded View

NOTE:

  • When attaching the reservoir hose, align the yellow mark on the hose to the connector rib on the reservoir connection area.
  • When attaching the reservoir hose, align the blue mark on the hose to the connector rib on the clutch master cylinder connection area.

Disassembly

NOTE:

  • Refer to the Exploded View as needed during this procedure.
  • Do not spill brake fluid on the vehicle; it may damage the paint or plastic. If brake fluid does contact the paint or plastic, wash it off immediately with water.

1. Clutch Master Cylinder Piston Assembly - Remove

  1. Pry the circlip (A)
  2. Remove the push rod (B) with the stop plate and the yoke.

  1. Carefully remove the piston assembly (A) by applying air pressure through the clutch line hole (B).

  1. Remove the connector (A) and the O-ring (B).

Reassembly

NOTE:

  • Refer to the Exploded View as needed during this procedure.
  • Clean all parts in brake fluid and air dry; blow out all passages with compressed air.
  • Check that all parts are free of dust and other foreign particles.
  • Replace parts with new ones whenever specified to do so.
  • Make sure no dirt or other foreign matter is allowed to contaminate the brake fluid.
  • Do not reuse the drained fluid. Use only clean genuine Honda DOT 3 or DOT 4 Brake Fluid.

1. Clutch Master Cylinder Piston Assembly - Install

  1. Apply the rubber grease to the piston
  2. Slide the piston assembly (A) into the clutch master cylinder
  3. Install the connector (B) with a new O-ring (C).

  1. Install the push rod (A) with the stop plate, and install the circlip (B) in the groove of the clutch master cylinder while pushing the piston.
