NOTE: Before inspection, make sure the special bolt is tightened to the
specified torque.
1. Countershaft Assembly Clearance - Inspect
Measure the clearance between 1st gear (A) and the

Support the bearing inner race with an appropriate sized socket (A), and
push down
on the mainshaft (B)
Measure the clearance between 2nd gear (C) and 3rd gear (D) with a
feeler gauge
(E).
If the clearance exceeds the service limit, go

3. Metal or Hard Carbon - Remove
If you can feel a ridge of metal or hard carbon around the top of each
cylinder,
remove it with a ridge reamer (A). Follow the reamer manufacturer's
