Honda HR-V: SRS Symptom Troubleshooting - Front Seat Belt Reminder Indicator Does Not Come ON, Turn OFF, Or Flash (KA/KC)

NOTE:

  • Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed.
  • Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures and General Troubleshooting Information.
  • Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software, and retest.

1. DTC check:

Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Supplemental Restraint System - Testing & Troubleshooting

Are any SRS DTCs indicated?

YES

Go to SRS DTC troubleshooting.

NO

Go to step 2.

2. Body electrical system DTC check:

Check for body electrical DTCs with the HDS.

Supplemental Restraint System - Testing & Troubleshooting

Is DTC U0151 indicated?

YES

Go to DTC U0151 troubleshooting.

NO

Go to step 3.

3. Gauge control module check:

Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function.

Self diagnostic function

Does the front seat belt reminder indicator blink?

YES

Replace the SRS unit.

NO

Replace the gauge control module.

SRS SYMPTOM TROUBLESHOOTING - SRS INDICATOR DOES NOT COME ON

NOTE:

  • Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, find out if the vehicle was in a collision. If so, verify that all the required components were replaced with new components of the correct part number, and that they were properly installed.
  • Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures and General Troubleshooting Information.
  • SRS unit connector A (39P) type: Before replacing the SRS unit, check the SRS unit software version with the HDS. If the software version is not the latest, update the SRS unit software, and retest.

1. Problem verification:

  1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode, then wait for 10 seconds.
  2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then go off.

Does the SRS indicator come on for about 6 seconds and then go off?

YES

Intermittent failure, the vehicle is OK at this time.

NO

The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

2. Gauge control module check:

  1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
  2. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC).
  3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
  4. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function.

Does the SRS indicator blink?

YES

Replace the SRS unit.

NO

Replace the gauge control module.
