Honda HR-V: Steering Lock Removal and Installation
Removal
NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component
locations - Refer to: SRS
Component Location Index (KA/KC), and the precautions and procedures before
doing repairs or service.
1. Steering Column/EPS Control Unit - Remove
2. Steering Lock - Remove
- Center-punch both of the shear bolts (A)
- Drill their heads off with a 5 mm (0.20 in) drill bit. Be careful not to
damage the
steering lock when removing the shear bolts.
NOTE : The shear bolts have left-hand
threads
- Remove the steering lock (B).
Installation
NOTE: SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component

Component Location Index (KA/KC), and the precautions and procedures before
doing repairs or service.
1. Steering Lock - Install
- Without keyless access system: Install the steering lock without the key
inserted. With keyless access system: Install the electric steering lock
- Loosely tighten new shear bolts (A).
NOTE : The shear bolts have left-hand
threads
- Without keyless access system: Insert the ignition key, and check for
proper
operation of the steering wheel lock and that the ignition key turns freely
- Tighten the shear bolts until the hex heads (B) twist off.
2. Steering Column/EPS Control Unit - Install
3. Immobilizer Key - Regist (Without Keyless Access System)
4. Keyless Access System - Regist (With Keyless Access System)
